This event will:

Inform about cutting-edge research in carbon fibers, composites, and light weight metals from the region’s leading public researchers from Auburn University, Clemson University, Georgia Tech, Mississipi State University, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and the University Of Alabama at Birmingham.

Raise awareness of industry trends by private sector companies and their impact on research. Companies include: Aksa Carbon Fibers, Severstall North America, eSpin Technologies, and Chicago White Metal Casting.

Identify steps to promote the industry by the Economic Development Administration, the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing, the Georgia Center of Innovation for Aerospace, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and others.

PLUS:  Choice of  a tour to either ORNL’s Carbon Fiber Technology Facility (a low cost fiber pilot plant) or ORNL’s new Manufacturing Demonstration Facility(world-leading capabilities in manufacturing and materials research technologies.)
